Thank you so very much for taking the time to check out my Blog Audit & Business Consultation. To provide the best possible service to each one of my clients, at this point in time I provide no more than 6 blog audits per month.
This blog & business consultation is extraordinarily in-depth. Your video conference call with me will last for a solid 4 hours.
Your blog audit is broken down into 6 Parts:
- All about you and your business
- SEO Audit Report
- Content Audit
- Money Making Audit
- Business Strategy Plan
- Questions & Answers
Detailed Questionnaire
When you initially book your time with me I’ll immediately send you over a questionnaire.
I want you to take your time and be as detailed as possible on that questionnaire while getting it back to me as soon as possible. Yeah, total oxymoron, I know. The more detailed you are and the more information I have from your questionnaire… the better your audit will be. What that means is, I won’t have to waste our time together asking questions I should already have a good foundational answer to.
Video Conference Call
Our first call together will be the most in-depth and deep call we have. This call is broken down into 6 parts and will last a solid 4 hours (no worries, we can totally take breaks).
This is a completely unrushed call we’ll be on together. I don’t want you to feel like you must rush to get off the phone. I block out ample time for you and our call. If we go over our allotted time, we go over… if we finish faster, that’s totally cool too. I want to make sure you have absolutely no worries about anything to do with time.
I really want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. And most importantly, I want you to fully understand everything we’re going over. This is all very important information.
At our scheduled time, we’ll have a video conference call where I’ll share my computer screen with you. We’ll both wear earbuds with a microphone, plugged into our respective computers. There’s no need to be fancy, I use the ones that came with my phone. And you’ll have a pencil and paper handy to take notes and to write questions down as we go along.
Part 1: All About You and Your Business
I want to truly understand where you’re coming from. We’ll discuss your goals, wants and needs. We go over the answers to your questionnaire.
This is where you’re going to let me know where you’re at in life. From telling me your goals, what makes you happy, time management, content schedule and so much more.
Part 2: SEO Audit Report
I believe everyone who has a website and blog should know and understand basic search engine optimization. You should know what meta descriptions, redirects and alt text are and why they’re important. And if you don’t, that’s okay… I’m totally stoked to teach you.
What’s more?
Most people I talk to didn’t start off doing proper basic SEO on their blogs. I didn’t. And it’s not because you’re lazy, it’s because you didn’t or don’t know good SEO practices. And that’s okay.
I’m super stoked to share with you what I know about SEO and to share with you some great resources I’ve come across on my journey.
Though I’ve been practicing SEO for well over a dozen years I do not consider myself an SEO Expert by any means. I have practical application experience as well as I stay on top of all of the SEO news that I can. Not to mention I’ve taken several SEO courses. I personally find SEO fascinating and I really enjoy it. I don’t know everything about SEO nor would I pretend to.
The SEO Audit Report I run on your site covers some basic SEO Factors which I feel are pretty easy for people to fix on their own. And I do touch on some website issues where you may have to hire a technical expert or you might need to get a new plugin.
Some of the things your SEO Audit Report will cover are:
Resources with 4XX status code | Pages with Frames |
Resources with 5XX status code | Too big pages |
404 page set up structure | Broken links |
Robots.txt file | Broken images |
.xml sitemap | Empty alt text |
Fixed www and non-www versions | Empty title tags |
Issues with http/https site versions | Duplicate titles |
Pages with 302 redirect | Too long titles |
Pages with long redirect chains | Empty meta description |
Pages with meta refresh | Duplicate meta descriptions |
Mobile friendly | Too long meta description |
https pages with mixed content issues | Language Versions |
Pages with multiple canonical URLs | Pages with hreflang elements |
Incorrect language codes | Invalid URLs |
Missing return links | Conflicting hreflang elements |
Missing “x-default” values | Non-canonical pages with hreflang |
There’s more than that. What’s important is, we’ll go through the different sections of the SEO Audit Report so you can know and understand what each section means. And more importantly, know what to do about it.
Part 3: Content Audit
We’re going to dive deep into the type and style of the content you are creating and the formats you’re putting it out on. We will walk through many of the pages, posts, tags and categories of your website. We’ll also dive into your social media content.
I won’t pull any punches… and if your content sucks, I’ll let you know it does… and more importantly, tell you how to fix it. Most people write just for SEO or just for themselves. For the business of blogging, that’s wrong. You need to write for the reader and for their user experience while implementing search engines’ best practices.
I can’t stress enough how important voice is going to be for the future of blogging. Video is going to be extremely important too… but in the next 10 years, voice search will rule the vast majority of searches on the Internet. If you’re not writing for the reader and for the way people search using voice, you’re going to have some difficult times ahead.
I think you need to keep the year 2030 in the front of your mind while you’re creating content for today. There are very few blog coaches who are even thinking about this and you’re lucky you found me.
Some of the things we’ll look at are:
- Spelling, grammar, punctuation.
- Proper use of H2, H3, H4 and paragraphs.
- Making sure your content is valuable.
- We’ll look at your website layout.
- Making sure you have your pages, categories and tags set up efficiently.
- We’ll talk about keyword and keyphrase usage.
- Evaluating your affiliate programs and how they’re converting.
- Making sure you’re following the Terms of Service of your affiliates.
- Evaluating your newsletter.
- Discussing your product conversions.
- Don’t have a product? We’ll talk about product creation.
- We’ll go over your social media and figure out what’s working best for you and fine-tune your strategy around that.
Often people are overwhelmed by Social Media… the secret to creating social media content is to document, not create. And you have to provide some form of extreme value. We’ll talk about how to properly distribute content and how to get engagement.
To get readers, followers and viewers… you need to have to pay with either time or money. One of the most important things we’ll discuss is Organic Reach VS Paid Advertising and how they work together.
Part 4: Making Money Audit
If your blog is not making money, it’s a hobby. And if your blog is making some money, but not enough for you to go full time on it… congratulations, you have a hobby that helps to pay for itself.
I feel every business needs a minimum of 4 Pillar Streams of income. And we’re going to dive into that means to your blog and business. Some of the areas we’ll cover are:
Selling Products and/ or Services
- Do you need to sell a product or service?
- The answer to that question is a resounding “YES.”
- If you already have a product or service, we’re going to dive into why it isn’t converting the way you would like it to.
- If you don’t have a product or service, that’s okay… we’re going to speak about retail arbitrage or having you create your own.
- Does having a membership for your business make sense?
Affiliate Marketing
I love affiliate marketing. We’ve sold hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions of dollars, of items over the past 12+ years. And we’ve received substantial affiliate commissions from them.
There are some solid “dos” and a huge amount of “don’ts” in affiliate marketing… unfortunately most people partake in the huge amount of don’ts. We are going to look at what you’re doing right now and see if we can improve it.
Sponsored Content
10 years ago, we started reviewing sponsored items for free. Then it grew to $20 for a sponsored posts. Now we get paid 4 to 5 figures for sponsored content. We work with both Blog Networks and directly with brands.
I have a way of presenting proposals to brands that have been extraordinarily successful for us and I’ll share that with you. We’re going to discuss what you’re doing on the sponsored content front and what you can do better.
One of the biggest secrets we’ll discuss is why you should never, ever “pitch” a brand. Pitching is for baseball. And when you understand this 1 little change in your mentality, it will immensely change your view on how to work with brands.
And when you do approach a brand, there’s a very specific way to do it and we’ll talk about it.
Ad Revenue
Ad revenue is awesome. Love it.
We’ve been collecting ad revenue for over a decade now. The fact of the matter is, not all ads are good nor is all of the advice from your ad network. You have to be smart with your ad placement.
I’m going to share with you what has made a tremendous difference in our income when it comes to using and utilizing ads and ad networks. I have some great resources I can’t wait to share with you that should totally boost your ad game. We look at where you’re losing money and try to fix that. Then we’ll look at where you’re making money and where you could be making more… then talk about how you’ll be doubling down on those areas.
Other Potential Income Pillars
We’ll dive into different income pillars you are utilizing and ones you would like to utilize, for example:
- How to sell through your blog
- Sponsored Posts
- Sponsored Social Media
- Arbitrage
- Product Creation
- Memberships
- Does selling your blog make sense?
Part 5: Business Strategy Plan
Creating the Business Strategy Plan and Day-to-Day Plan is the most important part of the entire Detailed Blog & Business Audit. This is where we address your time management.
And I have a secret to share with you… the vast majority of people suck with time management.
By this point, we will have just went over a lot of information… we’ll have a giant list of things you need to work on.
This is where most other audits stall.
If I just left you with a giant list of things to do, most likely you will have a difficult time prioritizing when and what to work on.
- When do you work on your blog fixes?
- When do you work on new content creation?
- When do you work on marketing?
- What do I work on 1st?
- How do I manage a healthy work/ life balance?
I know bloggers who are still working on outdated lists from audits they got over 2 years ago. That is not productive.
Together, you and I will develop a business plan for you to improve your SEO issues, fix your blog and fix your Social Media while putting you on track to be more productive.
Putting your happiness first is the first priority on your blog. And stress does not typically equate to happiness.
All too often I see bloggers sacrifice their happiness for their blogs and dude… it shouldn’t be that way. Blogging is supposed to be fun. You should be blogging because you enjoy it.
You and I will work together to make sure this Business Strategy Plan fits into your life and into your schedule. That’s where the Day-to-Day Plan comes into place. If you know what you’re supposed to do while you’re working, it tends to help you get a lot more done. So we figure that out together.
Part 6: Q & A
The final part of our time together will be me answering all of your questions. I want to make sure I have answers for all of your questions before we get off of your video call.
